Changes are coming to the Sunriver Mall; it is already being referred to as the new name, The Village at Sunriver. SilverStar Destinations, LLC has purchased the Village Mall and has started to make plans for a full renovation and upgrade of this well known landmark.
The Village at Sunriver will be a European-style village similar to Village at Northstar near Lake Tahoe and Whistle Blackcomb in British Columbia. These resorts have a feeling of being in the Alps with high end condos on the upper floors and stylish shops and restaurants on the ground floor.
The new plan has between 90,000 and 120,000 square feet of commercial space and 500 to 600 condos and town homes, creating a place for people to gather, play, shop and make Sunriver memories.
As information is released I can provide it to those that will be interested in this wondrful project. Working as a full time REALTOR® in Sunriver I can and will keep clients informed of what is available with the condos and town homes in the newest development in Sunriver.
The cost of this project is projected to be $100,000,000 (100 million) construction is scheduled to start in the summer of 2008 with the first phase taking 18 months. The hope is to be open for Christmas 2009.

Thesa sounds like a great project. We have one going in here in ABQ. We have the mall part but the residential section has been slow and hasn’t started yet.

Good news….the ol’ Mall is looking a little shabby. Should be a good shot in the arm.

I would agree with the two previous posts: it sounds like a great project & the ‘ol Mall is looking a little shabby. However, this is not a great project for a wonderful resort like Sunriver with 40 years of history as a residential community set in the forest with a respect for the natural environment.
Sunriver is not a Whistler or Northstar at Tahoe – people come here to get away from the city, not to find it while in the mountains. Also how will Sunriver’s already overburdened pools and paths handle the addition of 550+ condo’s (an increase of 15% of the total residences in all of Sunriver)?
I would urge everyone to please carefully consider all the elements of the zoning proposal before making judgments. The mall can be redeveloped without nearly this level of dramatic change to the jewel we call Sunriver.

Don; you have some great points as do some of the other readers and contributors to these posts.
I think we are all concerned about the same issues you speak of.
I am pleased that you feel comfortable in voicing your concerns and thoughts – please continue to do so.
As information becomes available – I will too post it. I will visit your site and see what you have to say.
I respect your opinon and those of the others. As an agent in the community I too have concerns – but more so as a long time Central Oregon resident.
